International Women’s Day 2024 was celebrated at Camp 8W with a vibrant event focused on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness and women’s empowerment. The Assistant Camp-in-Charge of Camp 8W inaugurated the event, joined by the Protection sector focal point, the project manager and other organizational staff, all delivering inspiring speeches to encourage community action. The event brought together adolescents and women from the camp for a day of unity, celebration, and engagement, reinforcing empowerment and gender equality.
Throughout the day, various interactive activities and competitions created a fun environment. Women and young girls eagerly participated in games such as drawing, henna designs, playing with a ball, marble balancing with a spoon, cricket, quiz and a traditional game of Ludo. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places celebrated winners, sparking joy and a sense of achievement among participants.
The community’s active participation reflected a strong sense of solidarity and support, highlighting the importance of women’s empowerment. This International Women’s Day celebration not only provided entertainment but also served as a meaningful platform to advocate for gender equity and strengthen community bonds within Camp.
