The facilitators discuss details of the basic characteristics of journalism, what is news and types of news, how to develop a news, various types of media and so on. Sobur (13), one of the participants in the training shared “We are really benefited by taking part in this training. Through the two-day sessions, we have gained knowledge on how to gather news, how to develop a news and to whom we may share the news to publish. Sometimes, we are struggling to select a suitable photo according to the news. The discussion on subject and object of the photo will help us to choose appropriate photo for the news in future. We also learn on the difference between news and feature. Now I am more confident in collecting news of my community. Thanks to ActionAid Bangladesh to organize this training for us”.

Furthermore, Ima (13) also shared that “This training helps to learn on collecting news systematically. I find very interesting learning the 5WH method to collect news. Besides, we also learn on news presenting via television”.

Fahima (11) was another participant in the training. She told that “Me along with my other comembers become confident after completing the two-day long training on community journalism. The systematic collection and development of news will help us to work profoundly in our ongoing task of CJG group and yearly publication of this group. Moreover, rather than our yearly publication, we also learn how we may publish our news at national media. Besides, have some basic idea on photography through this training is also useful learning to enrich our news in future”.
