South Asia has been affected by a number of disasters in recent years—natural, economic and conflict-related—drawing attention to the region’s vulnerability and pushing disaster risk reduction (DRR) and resilience up development and policymaking agendas. The role of women in DRR and building resilient communities has received less attention than it deserves

Women constitute 69 percent of agricultural labour force of Bangladesh. The total number of women involved in agricultural work, if broken down, would be about 74% women engaged in raising cattle, 63% women preserve local seeds, 40% women produce vegetables and crops. Women are producing agricultural products besides their household chores. Unfortunately, they are not adequately acknowledged and brought under national initiatives targeted at farmers.

National data on Violence Against Women (VAW) has shown that women in Bangladesh still suffer from chronic abuse, torture and violence in their homes. In this report, JNNPF, a coalition of local, grassroots VAW prevention advocacy and victim support organisations, has compiled district level data to assess the overall situation regarding VAW in Bangladesh. The report has commissioned by ActionAid Bangladesh.

ActionAid Bangladesh is organizing the third International Water Conference on January 29- 30, 2019. This Conference will go beyond disciplinary boundaries to embrace multidisciplinary perspectives on water and transboundary rivers, covering a range of thematic areas.

The “Annual Report 2017” highlights all the major events and achievements of ActionAid Bangladesh across all fronts in the calendar year of 2017. The year was a crucial year in relevance to the humanitarian crisis as it witnessed natural disasters such as flash floods and landslides, one after another.

ActionAid Bangladesh (AAB) has worked closely with the survivors and families of the deceased since 2013. AAB provided emergency support during the rescue and developed a comprehensive database of approximately 1400 survivors in 2013. Since 2013 AAB has been using the database to periodically collect information to track the progress of the survivors and families of deceased.
